i need to let you know that I have HIV.

"ok, sweet, thanks for the heads up" ...

Alright, so we all know its illegal to knowingly give HIV/AIDS/Hep, whatever.. to someone.

But what about if that someone is trying to save you?

It personally bothers me that it is not a law for a person receiving emergency medical care to not have to inform the people if they have one of the above. Now, being little clueless me, thinking the world makes sense and all never knew this before. A friend of mine (EMT) said they don't have to because of the Ryan White act. So I looked the act up, to really see what the dealio was with it.

the Ryan White CARE Act mandates that EMS personnel can find out whether they were exposed to life threatening diseases while providing care. The clauses protecting emergency personnel were removed by congressional staffers in a renewal of the bill. The reason for the removal is unclear; some allege the staffers removed the clauses protecting emergency personnel because they did not understand why they were in the original Ryan White act.

uhh, okay? either way they should be protected, i don't give a rats ass. People complain about being discriminated but seriously.....it should be a law. Thats all I've got. I think its terrible that people doing good can end up with these diseases, maybe by an accidental needle poke or from other various fluids that can spray out of the body.

It's like you have to pretend everybody has those diseases just so you make sure you protect yourself properly.

OH and by the way.........i cant find the article.dammit. but somehow more kids 14-21.. i think.. are getting HIV. Have we not accomplished anything??
